Merry (Early) Christmas!
By courtney | December 18, 2009
Last weekend, my folks (Reed & Cheri) visited us in Portland to celebrate Mom’s birthday and an early family Christmas. It was a blast!
- We investigated the Peruvian tapas at Andina. Given my general hatred for potatoes, I never thought I’d type this, but… I *love* their lime-infused potatoes!
- Mom and I had birthday pedicures and solved the world’s problems. You’re welcome.
- We had drinks at the Secret Society. May I suggest their happy hour next time you’re in town?
- We took home BBQ for dinner from Russell Street BBQ. We had the ribs, but I still like their pulled pork the best.
- We watched “The IT Crowd,” our new Brit cult favorite about the perils of computer geekdom. “You best put seatbelts on your ears, Roy, ’cause I’m about to take them on the ride of their life!” (Thanks for the rec, Bryce!)
- We made scones, ate homemade jam, and exchanged Christmas gifts. Keith has already mastered the use of his wicked new immersion blender. Ask him to make you a frothy Irish Coffee sometime soon.
- We visited Sakeone, the only American-owned sake brewery in America. This included a fantastic tasting flight and a tour. Be sure to admire (picture below) Keith’s modeling of the blue sanitary booties we all wore.
I am very excited to spend my first Christmas at the Grants’, but I’ll admit it was wonderful to have a mini (and early) Christmas with my family too. We’d try to invite the whole gang over again, but you know… after last year’s snow fiasco, who would come?
Merry Christmas, Schells and Varneys!

The IT Crowd is the best. I love that show.
