An Anniversary Weekend

As many of you know, Keith and I celebrated our second anniversary on January 6th. (Two years! Can you believe it?) Since we spent so much time traveling over the holidays, we elected to celebrate in dowtown Portland for a few nights. Here were the high points:
- We stayed at Hotel Monaco, which is run by the same wonderful folks who own the hotel we stayed at on our wedding night. As always, the service was impeccable.
- We uncovered a new favorite called East India Co. I am not kidding: their naan alone is worth going there, much less that heavenly, smoky tandoori chicken.
- We had lunch at Mizu, a sushi spot owned by our friend Ruth. Great spicy rolls!
- We watched the new Sherlock Holmes movie and found ourselves thoroughly entertained! There’s nothing like a boxing opium addict with a penchant for logic to keep you guessing.
- We ate supper at Karam Lebanese. Score one for the vegetarians: the grape leaves, tabouleh, hummus, and eggplant stew induced ridiculous overeating.
- We explored the Oregon Maritime Museum, which is on the paddle boat that Hollywood used to film the movie Maverick.
- We indulged in rich French food at unknown gem, Carafe Bistro…
- …and finished the evening at the Oregon Symphony! What a blast to get all dressed up and hear a gorgeous piano concerto.
It was a marvelous weekend, and now we have a host of new places to take our-of-town visitors. (As if I’m waiting for visitors for the excuse to return for more grape leaves!)
