A Psalm of Jeoffry
By courtney | January 31, 2010
Our small group was studying a praise psalm this past Thursday, in which God’s character and works are praised by the psalm writer. So to think about what that means in our own lives, we tried our hands at writing our own psalms. Now, you should know that we have a resident cat named Jeoffry at the house we meet in, and Jeoffry wanted in on the action. He therefore dictated the following to Keith, his faithful scribe. We give you… a Psalm of Jeoffry.
The Lord is my ear-scratcher, I shall not be in want.
He makes me to lie down in warm places, and gives a pillow where I can curl up
He restores me with sleep.
He guides me to paths of catnip, for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the alley of the shadow of dogs,
I will fear no laser pen, for You are with me.
Your scratch post and mouse toy, they comfort me.
You prepare silly captions in the presence of my pictures.
You anoint my fur with petting.
My water bowl overflows.
Surely adoration and attention will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of Dave forever.
Oh Jeoffry, our feline friend. Your piety is truly astounding.
